Change in the church is with an aim which is to reach the joyous eternity, which is a wonderful thing. But we don’t only seek eternal change but also a worldly one that involves the present in which we live. Who are the people who changed and enlightened society?

The Lord Jesus Christ compared the faithful to light, By that He meant the joyful spread and the success over darkness and sin.

The Lord Jesus Christ compared the faithful to salt The Lord Jesus Christ compared the faithful to salt. By that He meant dissolving without getting lost, giving taste to food and the world and also purity amongst other things.

Christ The Lord Christ worked seriously and gave the state what belongs to it. We know from Matthew 17:24-27, that the Lord Christ had to pay taxes to the state. Therefore, He was careful to teach people to pay what they owe to the state. And when the Jews were testing him concerning the payment of taxes, He said to them: “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21).

1-POPE PETER AL-JAWLI It has been recorded in the history of the church that Imperial Russia feared the influence of Muhammad Ali who stopped its influence in the east. So they sent one of their princes to negotiate with the Pope of the Copts, suggesting that the Christians could be under the protection of the great Caesar of Russia. But the patriotic pope asked the prince a question that the prince did not expect: Would your Caesar live forever? The prince answered: No, my master. He dies like other humans. So the pope said: Then you live under the protection of a king who will die one day, but we, the Copts, live under the protection of a king who will never die, but lives forever. The prince was ashamed of himself and left astonished. When he met Mohammad Ali Pasha, the Pasha asked him: “Did you like Egypt and its monuments?” The prince replied saying: “yes, the great Sphinx and the wonderful Pyramids. But something else attracted my admiration more than these things. It is the Patriarchate of the Copts and his patriotism”. Then he told the Pasha about what took place between him and the pope. So Mohammad Ali was most impressed, then he went to the patriarchate and said to the Pope: “Today, you have raised up your estimate and that of your country. Your position in Egypt will be like Mohammad Ali. And you will have a Charest exactly like his”.

2- POPE KYRILLOS IV (1816-1861) “THE FATHER OF REFORM” He shared in spreading education in Egypt, especially for the Egyptian woman who had no school to attend. So he established the first Egyptian school for girls in Cairo and another school for boys where teachers were Coptic and Muslims with no discrimination. This great Pope was the first to bring a big printing press from Austria. It was the third printing press to enter Egypt after the state printing press and the one that came with the French expedition. Pope Kyrillos IV travelled to Ethiopia as Saeed Pasha, the ruler of Egypt, requested. The idea came from the Ottoman Sultan. Abdel Magid who asked Saeed Pasha to send the Patriarch of the Copts to King Theodor of Ethiopia, seeking a peace treaty and reconciliation between the two countries. This mission took one and half years and it was a success. And so pope Kyrillos IV returned to Egypt, carrying many gifts for himself and for Saeed Pasha, all sent by the king of Ethiopia.
