What is Communication? Communication is the act of sending and receiving information, messages or signals. Examples: Receiving a Facebook message from a friend. Watching the news. Talking to your teacher.
What does Communication Do? Inform – Provides information. Examples: newspapers, flyers, and maps. Educate – Used to teach. Examples: instructions, presenting to a class, cookbooks. Persuade – Tries to influence. Examples: Television commercials, posters for stores, your friend trying to convince you to do something
What does communication do? Entertain – Causes enjoyment. Examples: music, movies, and art Control - Commands. Examples: laws, controlling technology such as keyboard and mouse

Communication Process Noise Anything that distorts, distracts, or interferes with the communication process. Example: Getting disconnected from the internet, background noise while you're on your cell phone.
