Permissions There are different sets of roles and permissions in myMCPS Classroom. Roles and permissions are defined at the course level and at a school/office level. Course Roles and Permissions The default roles at the course level include “Student”, “Teacher”, “Teaching Assistant” (ex. paraeducator), and “Observer” (ex. parent/guardian). Your role in a course determines your level of permission and ability to interact within the course. School/Office Roles and Permissions Prior to the start of school, each school will have staff who are designated as “school administrators” which would grant them the ability to manually create courses for varying purposes as well as access all the provisioned courses for their school. Dashboard Features: List of courses Practice: Open your sandbox practice course by selecting the course from your dashboard AMANDA

Home Features: Options to create a new module or add existing content (useful for next year when making a copy of a class to use materials from a previous course). AMANDA

Announcements Features: Add announcements to front page of class for students/parents to view. Options to add pictures, delay posting, add “likes,” etc. Link to URL, Embed image, math equation, YouTube, Khan Academy, External Tools (quizlet, Google App-Drive), Media Practice: Click on + Announcement Type in any message Add an image or video by selecting from the toolbar Click save You should now be able to view the announcement from the announcements page AMANDA

Assignments Features: Add assignments which automatically sync to Pinnacle. Upload multiple files: instructional videos, graphs, the assignment. ASsign point value Assign group within the course. Submission type: online, on paper, external tool Practice: Select + Assignment Enter assignment name Add instructional video Add image Select More external tools-> Google App-> upload something from Drive Add points Add date Select Save and publish AMANDA

Discussions Features: Encourage dialogue through posting a discussion. Similar to “post question” in Google Classroom. Access to Student Settings (uncheck edit and delete mode) Practice: Select + Discussion Post a question AMANDA

Grades Features: Students will automatically be enrolled from Pinnacle at the start of the year. Students will not have have to “join” like in Google Classroom Practice: Now that you’ve created an assignment, you will see it appear under grades. AMANDA

People Features: List of students Can be used for grouping AMANDA

Files Features: Everything that’s been created or uploading Practice: Select Upload to access Google Drive YOu will not be able to access My Documents unless using a desktop OR you upload into Drive first JEFF

Quizzes Features: Multiple formats including short answer and multiple choice Will grade an automatically update to Pinnacle Shuffle answers so students next to each other cannot view answers Options for immediate feedback Speedgrader- grade each student as you view it on the screen and can see if students haven’t submitted or if it was submitted late. Settings Features: Transfer students can enroll into the page from here. Change front page of course Option to allow students to edit or delete on page. Calendar Features: Click on date Assignments can be sent to everyone or individually Create assignments and post dates or click on calendar and create assignment first. Events can span over several days by pulling the right side of the text box.
