BACKGROUND Orwell wrote 1984 speculate & caution → world under repressive government dystopian society → warning world should heed to remain free government uses tools to manipulate opinion & reinforce dominance

PROMPT Using your observations about the tactics employed in the novel, write an essay that examines how those strategies are evident in today’s world, specifically in the United States.
