Outcomes - Year 6 Autumn: Come Dine With Us – 3 course meal – final week of Autumn Term What Came First? The Chicken or the Egg? – presentation to parents Spring: Heroes and Villains – play to show Crime and Punishment through time There is No Good in Evil – gallery of work with activities in the hall Summer: Menacing Mayans – university style lecture (with homemade chocolate!)

Homework Where to find the policy? – 1 x English, 1 x Maths, Spelling and Reading Homework club- every Tuesday lunchtime 12:15-12:45pm Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday Where to find the marking policy? Please do help your child if they are struggling however if you are really unsure, do not hesitate to send them our way (preferably before Friday so we can offer sufficient time).

Spellings - No-Nonsense Spelling -2 - 3 whole class lesson per week (new rule on a Friday afternoon) - Spelling rule will be taught followed by application activities - Spellings given following this rule - Spellings are tested the following Friday - Additional support is provided through interventions throughout the week for children who require it - Year 6 word list can be found online on the National Curriculum (take a copy if you would like one before you leave)

Reading - Daily guided reading. Whole class support on a Monday with guided interventions Tuesday-Friday - Extra interventions are taught throughout the week for children who require them - Your child should be reading daily and will be allocated books by their class teacher on Bug Club. More details to follow. - School library is open every day before and after school if you would like to help your child select a book. 8:30-8:45am and 3:15-3:30pm

PE Kit Blue or red shorts Trainers/plimsoles White or red PE top Tracksuit top and bottoms (Winter) Hair bobble NO jewellery Swimming: towel, swimming hat, swimming costume (girls) or swimming trunks – tight fitting (boys) Please note: your child must have the correct kit for their PE lessons. If kit is not in school on the day of their lesson, your child will not be able to take part in the lesson. A phone call home will follow.

Expectations Presentation: Tidy and clean Neat and something they are proud of Maths- one digit per square Underlining with a ruler Joined up handwriting – essential for ARE Mistakes- one line through Pencil for maths, pen for writing P+/P/P- Responsibility: Role models for the rest of the school Choosing class prayer/writing prayer for collective worship

Communication – between you and I - Newsletters are distributed at the start of every new unit (roughly 4-5 weeks) - Available at the end of most school days from 3:15-3:30pm. - If you require a meeting about something specific then you can book an appointment through the school office.
