“ HEART May 2003; 89: 502-6. 1975 men between age 49 and 64. Light (walk, bowl, sail) vs moderate (golf, dance, brisk walk) vs vigorous exercise (swim, racket sports, jog, hike, stairclimbing). 10 year study. Only vigorous exercise associated with a lowered risk of death from heart disease or any other cause. The more intense the exercise, the lower the chances of dying. NEJM 1996: Tai Chi decreases risk of falling by 47.5%. Risk of falling over age 65 is 30% in any year. Over age 80 is 40%.
