Industrial Revolution-movement in which machines changed people's way of life as well as their methods of manufacture Supply/Demand-the effect the availability of a particular product and the desire (or demand) for that product has on price. Boom & Bust- a situation in which a period of great prosperity or rapid economic growth is abruptly followed by one of economic decline. Recession-a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced Depression- a long and severe recession in an economy or market Industrialization- process by which an economy is transformed from primarily agricultural to one based on the manufacturing of goods. Urbanization-the process by which towns and cities are formed and become larger as more and more people begin living and working in central areas
Urban-characteristic of a city or town Rural- characteristic of the countryside rather than the town. Push/Pull- Factors which either forcefully push people into migration or attract them Boomtown- a town undergoing rapid growth due to sudden prosperity Refinery- a place where the unwanted substances in something (such as oil or sugar) are removed

Real Estate Industry During the late 1970s unemployment was low, real estate was in demand and building expanded Unemployment increased during the early 1980s due to the energy crisis and banking scandals, the demand for real estate decreased. By the early 1990s the economy improved and so did real estate demand
Banking Industry The stock market crash caused the prices of stocks to fall and many people were left with high debts. Banks ran out of money because they could not collect the money owed to them. Governments did not insure banks and Texans lost all their money. Texans did not have money to spend Factories and businesses were lost and farms were lost. By the 2000s, loans were taken out by people buying homes, commercial properties, automobiles, etc. When the economy began to slow people lost jobs and could not pay the loans back.
