Tang Jingyu 3rd CEPC-SPPC Collaboration Meeting April 8-9, 2016, IHEP SPPC Progress Report Tang Jingyu 3rd CEPC-SPPC Collaboration Meeting April 8-9, 2016, IHEP
Main topics General information Collider accelerator physics Technical issues Injector chain R&D planning About team and collaboration Summary
General information Since the last CEPC-SPPC study group meeting (Sep. 11-12, 2016) Work on collider accelerator physics continues Work on technical issues advances slowly Schemes on injector chain updated New fund from MOST for CEPC-SPPC R&D hopeful, though little going to SPPC Monthly group meeting maintained
Collider Accelerator Physics General parameters: all AP members (Tang Jingyu coordinates). Lattice design: three persons (Su Feng, Chen Yukai, Zhang Linhao) working on SPPC lattice Race-track lattice to be compatible with CEPC partial double-ring We do not need to by-pass the CEPC detectors Different schemes (70, 100 TeV)
Collimation study: two persons (Zou Ye, Yang Jianquan) working on the study. Good progress has been made. Combined transverse and longitudinal collimation in one long straight section Franck Schmidt of CERN will visit IHEP to help SIXTRACK installation, and simulations
Instabilities: Liu Yudong continues to work on instabilities Longitudinal dynamics: Peng Yuemei continues to work on it, with some help from Dai Jianping (especially on RF systems and injector accelerators) Other topics: needing more volunteers or engaged persons to put more time on
Technical issues High-field superconducting magnets Continuous efforts by Xu Qingjin and his group Workshop on High-Temperature and High-Field Superconducting Materials and Application Technology will be held on April 28-29, 2016 in Shanghai Beam screen and vacuum Zhu Kun (and a PKU student) continues to study new schemes Wang Yong (and students) studying SEY for different materials RF systems Dai Jianping is studying RF systems for both the collider and the injector accelerators Other technical issues Needing motivation and funds
Injector chain More efforts have been made in the injector chain Updating the accelerator schemes and parameter lists p-Linac/i-Linac: Lu Yuanrong is working on the survey and first design p-RCS: Tang Jingyu is working on the first design concept MSS: no new report from the student SS: Wang Xiangqi and students have made large effort in the first design concept
R&D planning We need long-term R&D efforts to meet the requirements for building SPPC; some of key technologies are extremely challenging. Both funds and manpower are needed CEPC-SPPC management is making efforts to obtain the first R&D fund from MOST, SPPC is only a small part of the package; hopefully in the second MOST R&D, there will be much higher weight for SPPC . Paper work on key issues should be pursued, to learn the technical progress and tendency around the world; to provide evidence support for the future R&D applications
About team and collaboration SPPC study team is still growing. Welcome to new comers CEPC-SPPC is discussing to form an international collaboration structure. We will fit us within the frame.
Summary We are making progress on SPPC study steadily. Study team gradually building up, but more people are welcomed. As no large funds for key R&D efforts, study will be focused on paper work. Once the international collaboration structure is formed, there will be more efficiency organization of the study. We should work together for the CDR report by end 2016.
Welcome comments!
