English Handwriting Range of genres Story writing/report writing Spellings - segment, key words spelt correctly, weekly test (look, say, cover, write, check) Daily spelling rules in school Reading – comprehension is very important Spoken English skills – role play, hot seating, ‘show and tell’ and use of iPad for assessment In September you will receive a booklet for parents and will be able to attend a KS2 reading meeting

Year 4 Residential Magdalen Farm, Winsham Environmental activities with an emphasis on sustainability and fun Farm set up 2 nights away from home Activities include: shelter building, making their own meals, investigating food sources on the farm, orienteering

Home learning Homework will be given out weekly and collected the following week Homework folders containing spellings along with activities related to the spelling rule, times tables practice There is also the expectation children will continue to read with parents at home I will contact you if extra is needed at home
Communication between parents and myself Open door policy- if you have any concerns then please do pop and see me – two way communication is vital Start of day on the playground End of day (meetings) always best to make an appointment to see me if a lot of discussion needed Occasional note in book bag if I need to see you Verbal through your child Office staff may ring parents
