CHILDREN’S HOMES BY: BILAL ADAMJEE
WHY THESE CHILDREN ARE IN HOMES Children who do not have parents or a family to look after them, because their parents have either died or abandoned end up in a children’s home or orphanage. When parents are ill, they cannot look after their children at home and will find a children’s home to look after them.
WHAT CAUSES THE ABOVE REASONS TO HAPPEN? Death in the family, ill health, violence, war and famine causes children to end up in homes or orphanages.
WHAT DOES THE HOME PROVIDE? The home provides a similar environment to a normal family setup. It provides a motherly or fatherly figure, who takes responsibility of the children’s welfare like security, food and education.
WHAT WE CAN DO HELP As individuals we can donate our old used items, such as clothes, food, stationary and toys. As a community we can group together and join hands to sponsor and fund raise for medical camps and education material and as a government we can help build more children’s homes where necessary.
