Treatment of Cardiac Angiosarcoma with Radiation and Docetaxel: A Case Report with Partial Response and Prolonged Stable Disease  Derek Suderman, MD, Andrew Cooke, MD, Ralph Wong, MD, Julianne Klein, MD  Journal of Thoracic Oncology  Volume 6, Issue 4, Pages 834-835 (April 2011) DOI: 10.1097/JTO.0b013e31820c2f18 Copyright © 2011 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Terms and Conditions

FIGURE 1 Multislice magnetic resonance imaging of heart during initial workup in August 2008. An 8.8 cm × 6.4 cm × 6.6-cm mass affecting primarily the left atrium, with extension into the right atrium at the interatrial septum is demonstrated (arrow). Inferiorly, there is involvement of the left ventricle, inferior vena cava, and the mass is intimate to the lower esophagus and abuts, the anterior aspect of the descending aorta. FIGURE 2 Histopathology demonstrates high-cellular, partially necrotic tissue composed of hyperchromatic and pleomorphic polygonal cells singly and in loose aggregates. FIGURE 3 Magnetic resonance imaging on follow-up in February 2009, 4 months after completing radiation therapy. A decrease in tumor size is noted, 5.2 cm × 4.2 cm.
