The Mississippi River: the largest, widest and most important river in the U.S.

Lewis and Clark traveled up the Missouri River on their famous expedition!

The Appalachian Mountain Range runs from Maine thru New York to Georgia. They were a major barrier to early settlers, and Colonists could not cross them after the Proclamation of 1763!
