Began in 2014 and is based at The Bungalow, Nidderdale High School Full time, 12 month, Study Programme. Partnership- delivered by a partnership led by North Yorkshire County Council, Adult Learning and Skills Service alongside Nidderdale High School, Nidderdale Plus, Nidderdale Visual Arts and The Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership and AONB. Funding came from the Education Skills and Funding Agency and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Aimed at young people 16-18 who were not yet ready for moving on to FE, Apprenticeships or employment and were vulnerable to becoming NEET. Many of the students experienced low confidence, and self esteem and a high proportion had learning difficulties or SEN. The rurality of the local area made it even more challenging for these young people to access other learning provision and therefore the course aimed to provide a stepping stone to other opportunities.

The Programme Two day work experience placement- links to Occupational Skills for the Workplace Certificate NCFE Opportunity to work towards a functional or GCSE Maths and English Qualification A focus on personal development looking at confidence and communication skills which links to a Personal Effectiveness Certificates with NCFE Practical Heritage and Art and Craft skills College tasters with Askham Bryan College Careers advice

Heritage Skills Short courses with The Heritage Craft Alliance. Conservation work with the AONB volunteers Stone and metal work with Nidderdale Visual Arts Students were commissioned to supply five carved stone markers for Lodge Village historical interpretation project

Stone and Metal Work Provided students with a stimulating project which developed skills in a range of heritage media e.g. felt making, metal, screen print and stone in a workshop environment. Enterprise/employability was a key focus and students worked towards an exhibition at which they were able to offer reproductions of their work for sale.
