Do Now Write out your answer choice only People from Scotland brought songs for singing and playing. Women did most of the singing. They passed songs down from mother to daughter over several generations. The men liked to play instruments, especially the fiddle. It was a small and very popular instrument that was easy to carry from place to place. Many men played the fiddle for dances. Some of the dance tunes from Scotland are the basis for dances now called square dances. How does the underlined sentence support the main idea of the article, that folk music is music by and for the people? The sentence describes one way that fiddle music was a common part of everyday life. The sentence explains how fiddle music was tied to dancing. The sentence shows how songs could be passed down from mother to daughter. The sentence explains how the fiddle was more popular with men.

Think: “In the passage from The Lightning Thief, how does this stage of the hero’s journey show up?” 4. Go back to the passage in Chapter 6 of The Lightning Thief and choose a specific scene (quote) that shows Percy experiencing that stage in “the hero’s journey.” 5. Go back to “The Hero’s Journey” and choose a quote that clearly connects to Percy’s experience.
