One way to find the surface area of ANY SOLID: Think of a cereal box! Here are the shapes created when you cut the edges: The sum of the areas of the faces of a 3-D figure Imagine cutting all the edges and laying out all of the faces. Once you know the shape of the piece, you can find its area. Find the areas of each piece and add them together.
