Using Begleys eBooks on Your Digital Device.

Why eBooks?

Instant access, 24 hours a day Can be used by more than 1 person at a time No due dates or late penalties Less expensive and quicker to getwhich means more up-to-date

Can I use eBooks on…? Download entire books onto your: Nook (HD, Simple Touch, Color and Tablet) Sony Reader Laptop or desktop

Can I use eBooks on…? Use the eBrary Moblie App to get entire books on your: Smartphone iPad Android tablets (to see if your device is compatible: req/) req

Can I use eBooks on…? Download chapters or sections of books onto your: Kindle Kobo Or any other device that can display PDF files

Finding eBooks Start on Begley Librarys homepage. Click Find Books, Media, etc.> Begley Library

Finding eBooks This takes you to the basic search page. To search just for eBooks, click Advanced Search

In the middle of the page where it says More Collections change the dropdown to Electronic Resource (Ebook)

The results list will look like this. Click on the link in the column labeled Call number to view the book.

The ebook will open in a new window.

Using eBooks: On your computer Once youve found an ebook that you need, you have a couple options. Option 1: use the book right on your computer, copy down the info you need, write down the citation information, then just close the book.

Using eBooks: On your computer Option 2: Create an ebrary account by clicking Sign In> Create New Account After your account is created, click Add to my Bookshelf The book is now saved and easy to find again anywhere that you can sign in to ebrary.

Using eBooks: Saving items Option 3: After creating an ebrary account, when looking at the book in the reader, click Download in the top left. It will allow you to select a specific chapter, or a specific range of pages (up to 60) to download as a PDF These can be saved to a flash drive, or on your computer and then transferred to any device that reads PDFs.

Using eBooks: On your smartphone Option 4: Install the ebrary app on your smartphone or tablet(must be running iOS 4.3 or higher or Android 2.1 or higher). Books can be downloaded from ebrary to the app to be read, even while not connected.

Using eBooks: On eReaders Option 5: After creating an ebrary account, click Download. Select Special format. The entire document. To do this, you must have Adobe Digital Editions installed on the computer you are using. editions/download.html

Using eBooks: On eReaders Once youve selected download entire document from the ebrary download menu and clicked okay, the book will download directly into Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) Once the book is displayed in the ADE library, connect your Nook or Sony Reader the computer via USB

Using eBooks: On eReaders The ereader will display in the menu on the right.

Using eBooks: On eReaders Click on the ebook and drag it over to the ereader icon until a green + displays. Drop the book.

Using eBooks: On eReaders The ebook is now loaded on the device and will be accessible for two weeks. Look for it in the folders in the devices library.

Citing eBooks MLA format: Author. Title. City of publication: Name of publisher, Year. Title of database or website. Medium. Date of access. APA format: Author. (Date). Title. [Version/e-device]. Where it was retrieved.
