Mental Health Projects Leyton Orient Trust Mental Health Projects LOT has a long history of delivering targeted health projects that in particular supports the rehabilitation of mental ill health. Coping Through Football is an innovative project that focuses on the recovery of young people and adults experiencing mental health problems with the intention of helping them to live more independently. The aim is to use the football experience to get fitter, increase levels of self-esteem and confidence, make new friends and ultimately to help people get their lives back on track.
Time to change is a growing movement of people changing how we all think and act about mental health problems. WF has won the bid to become London’s ‘Time to Change’ hub. How is LOT helping? WF is using our awareness matches to raise awareness about this campaign and recruit champions. Carers and service users have access to our ‘Diversity Hub’ and free tickets. DCD Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is defined as a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by poor motor proficiency that interferes with an individual’s activities of daily living. DCD is said to impact about 2–7% of school-age children. Recent evidence shows that children with DCD have an increased risk for mental health difficulties. Children with DCD are not being able to join in Playground games esp football. They are able to play football in a safe and secure environment with similar abilities children.
Over 50s Programme LOT also delivers the monthly Over 50s network, and Walking Football. Both of these programmes aim is to: Reducing social isolation Increasing regular physical activity levels Increasing strength, coordination and balance of older adults
Promoting Wellbeing All of LOT’s project underpins the evidence based of ‘5 ways to wellbeing’.
