Changing epidemiology of HIV-associated cryptococcosis in sub-Saharan Africa  James E Scriven, David G Lalloo, Graeme Meintjes  The Lancet Infectious Diseases  Volume 16, Issue 8, Pages 891-892 (August 2016) DOI: 10.1016/S1473-3099(16)30145-1 Copyright © 2016 Elsevier Ltd Terms and Conditions

Figure Participant ART status at enrolment, and reasons why participants developed cryptococcosis New HIV refers to HIV diagnosed on admission or within a month before admission. No ART start refers to HIV diagnosed more than 1 month previously but not started ART. Recent ART refers to first-line ART started within the preceding 3 months. ART fail refers to first-line ART taken for longer than 6 months with detectable HIV-1 viral load or recent switch to second line ART. Default refers to patients who started ART but defaulted therapy. ART=antiretroviral therapy.
