Get Out And Look (GOAL) Trihydro’s Vehicle Backing Safety Initiative

What is GOAL? Get Out And Look (GOAL) is a simple reminder to the driver of a vehicle to check around the vehicle before moving Too often the driver assumes nothing has changed in the area around the vehicle since they parked it GOAL stickers, placed on the drivers side window, are a reminder to: Look/check before they move the vehicle Park using first move forward

Incidents 49% of the non-traffic, non-crash fatalities involving children under 15 from 2001–2005 were caused by vehicles backing up Most of the incident investigations that are done on backing events contain the phrase “I didn’t see it” There have been numerous cases where the driver moved into a tight area or one with numerous low to the ground obstacles, i.e., wells, pipes, bollards, equipment, mats, etc. and these obstacles were in the drivers blind spots This is another tool to help reduce or eliminate backing Motor Vehicle Collisions at our job sites

What’s next Trihydro’s H&S Department have the stickers Do we place stickers on rental vehicles? Yes the stickers easily pull off! Discuss GOAL during your site orientation and at your tailgate meetings
