Implementation of ICT-related solutions AS Level ICT Implementation of ICT-related solutions Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation IMPORTANT NOTE The slides in this presentation are designed to help you to prepare this stage of your sample work for assessment during the examination The examination board will not expect to see any documentation relating to the actual implementation you undertake BUT will expect you to refer to what you have done The examination board will also expect you to include references in the work you undertaken to testing your solution during the process of implementation Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation Implementation is the stage of the process of solving an ICT-related problem when a working solution is actually produced using the design tools During this implementation use is made of: Hardware – input, output, and storage devices Software – operating system and software applications (e.g. spreadsheet software, word-processing software) Communication technology – a network and/or the Internet Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation It is important that any work done during the implementation stage is evidenced This can be achieved by the use of: Screenshots/print screens Annotated screenshots/print screens (e.g. screenshots/print screens with handwritten or word-processed comments) Printouts Annotated printouts (e.g. printouts with handwritten or word-processed comments) Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation Sound recordings in suitable formats Photographs and/or images Text (e.g. word-processed work log, word-processed work diary, online work blog) The process of evidence collection should be done in parallel with the process of implementation, and should show: Any problems that were encountered How these problems were overcome Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation Any changes that were made as a result of requests from the client The reasons why these changes were made Any testing that was undertaken during the process of implementation The results of those tests, and – if changes were required to the design of the solution as a result of the testing – any resulting changes that were made Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation The following questions should be answered during the implementation process: What processes have been gone through to implement the design? Has the design been tested thoroughly during and after it has been implemented? Have any design changes been required? Have any design changes been implemented? Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation The following questions should always be considered during the implementation process: Are the client’s requirements being met? Is the design being followed? Is the solution too ambitious? Is data being validated? Is the solution being tested appropriately and thoroughly? Is the implementation becoming bogged down in too much detail? Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions

Implementation DON’T FORGET Keep comprehensive records of the implementation process Organise your work into appropriately named folders and files Keep a backup of everything you produce Remember that Health and Safety considerations must always be considered when working with ICT – both your own Health and Safety and the effects of your solution upon the Health and Safety of the client and users Topic 8 - 08a - Implementation of ICT-related solutions
