Introduction America was basically a country of farmers, but the War of 1812 had cut off the supply of many manufactured goods from Europe and encouraged the growth of domestic industry. Objective Students will be able to explain how industrialization impacts American society.

Big Idea The Industrial Revolution (1820-1870) involved major changes in transportation, manufacturing, and communication that transformed the American nation. What is a revolution about? “CHANGE”

Assignment 1. Level 1 – identify & describe Answer Questions / Write Summaries 2. Level 2 – categorize / grouping Create a graphic organizer using the top half of the poster paper that depicts the big idea using the facts gathered. 3. Level 3 - judging & deciding On the bottom half of the poster paper, create a collage that illustrates the positive and negative aspects of the Industrial Revolution.
