Documentation Process and Procedures July 2002 doc.: IEEE 802.11-02/428r0 July 2002 Documentation Process and Procedures that are followed by the Vice Chair Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11 Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11

July 2002 All documents submitted to the Vice Chair are placed on the server within 48 hours from the time they are received. (Typically they are on the site within 24 hours. There are exceptions but they haven't happened too often.) If you have a document that has not been place on the web site within that time frame (48 hours), the author should resend the document and contact the Vice Chair. Any documents that are time sensitive should be flagged and the author needs to call the Vice Chair immediately so that a timely action can be take. (Office 973-236-6915 Cell Phone 973-727-5564) You also have the use of the reflector to send out your document (EXCEPT DRAFTS) if that document needs to be issued before the 48 hours period but MUST be submitted to the Vice Chair at the same time. Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11

Drafts are serviced first, followed by document number requests, July 2002 If a backlog occurs, Drafts are serviced first, followed by document number requests, and then all other documents are serviced. ALL DOCUMENTS will be checked for formatting, no copyright infringements, and NO logos on the documents Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11

July 2002 doc.: IEEE 802.11-02/428r0 July 2002 The servers used by 802.11 are owned and operated by the IEEE and are restricted as to who can upload to these machines. The machines do not only server 802.11 but all of the 802 groups. Security is of top priority. We (802.11) are required to use these machines for open access to all of our members. We do not use any other machines for web sites, reflectors, documents or any other 802.11 business except at the meetings. These machines are not under the control of the personnel of any one 802 group. They are maintained by the IEEE and any thing we do must be approved by them. As most of you have seen, the 802.11 officers have been upgrading and automating our procedures as we can. The automated document number request at the meeting is one example. At meetings we have a server that is active only for the time of the meetings and shut down at the end of the meeting. This is for the meeting times ONLY because we do not always have access to the IEEE machines at the meetings. Also at the meetings, we don't have the time to do all of the documentation for the web site. All activates on that server are uploaded to the IEEE machines as soon as we are able to do so immediately after the meeting. Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11 Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11

July 2002 Anyone who sees errors in the documentation, web site, reflector, or attendance information needs to make the Chair or Vice Chairs aware of the errors. The Officers appreciate everyone's concern and hope that the membership understands that we will automate the processes that we can as soon possible. Upgrading and automating the systems takes time and/or money to do and I hope the membership also understands that it will take some time to do all of the things we would like to have. Harry Worstell, Vice Chair, 802.11
