Magna Carta 1215 King John of England Limited the power of the king and forms Parliament Sets up representative government as well as protection of individual rights Basis for US Constitution and Bill of Rights

Glorious Revolution James II disliked Disobeyed Parliament Practiced Catholicism James has a male heir to the throne with his second wife who would practice Catholicism. Parliament was unwilling to have another Catholic king. Parliament overthrows James II and replaces him with his Protestant daughter and husband William of Orange and Mary. Bloodless exchange of power
