What is it ? Fresh air Focus Fun Facts Friends Fitness THE SAME AS WALKING A DAILY Mile … except … You get a Log Book You get a badge You will be walking ‘Virtually’ around Scotland

Fitness: Walking a McMile a day will significantly improve fitness Focus: Walking a McMile a day is scientifically proven to improve focus, cognitive ability and attainment Fun: Walking a McMile a day is about having fun and talking to other participants even if the weather tries to intervene Why ? Facts: A key element of our efforts will be our virtual tour of Scotland. Every week all of the McMiles walked will be added together and our Journey around Scotland’s Coasts, Hills, Rivers, towns and cities will be recorded and displayed via the McMile board outside the library and social media. Fitness: Walking a McMile a day will significantly improve fitness Fresh air: Walking a McMile a day will give us the chance to experience and to be prepared for all of the Scottish seasons – (cold rain, warm rain, rain showers etc Friends: Walking a McMile a day is an opportunity to make new friends and spend time with existing ones

Why ? Walking a Daily Mile has been formally recommended for all schools… Scottish Government Every child, no matter their circumstances, age or ability, can succeed walking a Daily Mile. Thomas Dowens, Education Scotland   Physically active children and young people perform better academically than their inactive peers and those who are most active benefit the most. When ? Starting from Monday 5th March 2018 Every day at 1:30pm registered participants should meet at the entrance to the bottom pitch, wearing weather appropriate clothes and log book. 1McMile = 8 times around perimeter of the bottom pitch Personal miles will be tallied on the McMile board (next to library) weekly and will be added to cumulative total for the virtual tour of Scotland
