Objectives When given a situation, I can determine the correct integer. I can explain the meaning of zero in each situation.

Vocabulary integers – whole numbers: including positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero. negative integers – whole numbers that are less than zero, written with a – sign positive integers – whole numbers that are greater than zero

Example 1 Write an integer to represent the situation. Explain what zero would mean in each situation. a 10-yard loss Answer: Integer: -10 Zero: no yards lost or gained
