Genetic variation of coxsackie virus B5 strains associated with aseptic meningitis in Greece  A. Papa, K. Dumaidi, F. Franzidou, A. Antoniadis  Clinical Microbiology and Infection  Volume 12, Issue 7, Pages 688-691 (July 2006) DOI: 10.1111/j.1469-0691.2006.01476.x Copyright © 2006 European Society of Clinical Infectious Diseases Terms and Conditions

Fig. 1 Consensus phylogenetic tree constructed with coxsackie virus B5 sequences, including isolates from the present study (in bold). Alignments were obtained with the CLUSTAL W program. The statistical significance of the phylogenies constructed was estimated with the SEQBOOT program. The 100 datasets obtained were analysed with the DNADIST program and the parameters of the Kimura 2 model of nucleotide substitution. The observed nucleotide distance matrix was then processed with the NEIGHBOUR program, and the tree was generated with the CONSENSE program. The numbers at the nodes represent the percentage of 100 bootstrap replicates that contained the cluster distal to the node. Bootstrap values > 60% are indicated. Fig. 2 Alignment of nine amino-acids in a highly variable region of VP1. Lysine (K) in the fifth position was present only in the strains of the present study. Below the alignments, “*”, “:” and “.” denote identity, well-conserved mutations and conserved mutations, respectively, while no mark denotes no conserved mutations.
