St Thomas More The Way of the Day
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
We break from our theme today because this week the church remember the feast of a great English saint: St Thomas More…
A reading from the first letter of St Peter "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when His glory is revealed." - 1 Peter 4:12
Prayer for Good Humour by St. Thomas More Recommended by Pope Francis Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest. Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humour to maintain it. Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good and that doesn’t frighten easily at the sight of evil, but rather finds the means to put things back in their place. Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumblings, sighs and laments, nor excess of stress, because of that obstructing thing called “I.” Grant me, O Lord, a sense of good humour. Allow me the grace to be able to take a joke to discover in life a bit of joy, and to be able to share it with others. Amen
