BACKGROUND The National Sports Council of Malaysia (NSCM) was established under the National Sports Council of Malaysia Act in 1971. It is a statutory body under the purview of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Acts as the coordinating body on the development of high-performance sports.

2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEA GAMES) :19th – 31st August ASEAN Para-Games :17th – 23rd September Malaysia Organizing Committee for the SEA Games (MASOC) was formed in 2015 MEGA EVENTS HOSTED 2015 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur 2002 Association of National Olympic Committees Meeting 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Sports in Malaysia saw a rapid expansion Legacy building of a sports complex in Bukit Jalil 1986 Malaysian Games (SUKMA) were introduced. Organized every two years Mid 1960’S : 5 Southeast Asian Games (SEAP / SEA Games) International tournaments (Badminton, Football, Athletics & etc)

LEADERSHIP Executives and sports professionals NEED to carry out the responsibilities of a defined role. Example : Malaysia Organizing Committee for the SEA Games (MASOC) was formed in 2015 as the lead government agency in organizing and promoting the Games. Local and international agencies, with expertise in their relevant areas played a leadership role. The sports professionals recruited included officers from the NSCM working alongside with the Sports Managers of the 38 NSA’s as well as from the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and the Ministry officials all housed under one roof.

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS PERSONNEL Top management / leaders includes NSCM officers have the exposure and experience in being part of the official Secretariat at mega multi-sport events and served in the organizing committees of other multi-sport events and tournaments held in Malaysia. Have had the similar experience running a mega event locally and internationally. Sports Managers Served a number of years in the NSA’s Experience being attached with their respective International / Continental Federation Attended sports management courses run by the NSCM or Olympic Council of Malaysia (IOC / Olympic Solidarity Programs) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports
