Background DSS November 2013: two-step approach agreed CVTS 2015 Within existing legal framework: Regulation (EC) No 1552/2005 Further burden reduction while keeping the survey relevant Beyond 2015 Further methodological work to elaborate an alternative approach (feasibility to combine with LCS) and prepare changes to existing legal acts

Draft Commission Regulation for CVTS 2015 Amendment to Regulation (EC) No 198/2006 implementing Regulation (EC) No 1552/2005 Aim: balance between burden reduction and keeping survey relevant Reduced and simplified list of variables based on recommendations of the CVTS Task Force Changes compared to CVTS 2010 relatively small – but major streamlining took already place between CVTS 2005 and CVTS 2010

Consultations towards ESSC December 2013: consultation of the Education and Training Statistics Working Group Some modifications / corrections January 2014: DSS consultation 22 replies (of 32) Countries agreed in general on the proposed draft Regulation Minor changes to variables Summary information sent to DSS on 27/02/2014 Inter-services consultation Preparation of ESSC document
