The Three-Fold Mastery of JESUS CHRIST MASTER OF SERVANTS MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE MASTER TEACHER Three different connotations of the title “Master” are found in the meaning of the term as it is applied to Jesus. He is the Master of servants, of the universe and of teaching. But the real question is, “Is He your Master?”
Jesus: The Master of Servants Jesus is our Master and we His servants because we have been bought with a price. -- 1 Corinthians 7:23; 1 Peter 1:18-19 Servants will be judged & rewarded by their Master! -- Matthew 24:45-51; Ephesians 6:9; Romans 14:4 Servants cannot serve another master! Sin (Romans 6:16; John 8:34) Mammon (Matthew 6:24) Our own bellies (Romans 16:18)
Jesus: The Master of the Universe Jesus is called upon as Master/Commander By the ten lepers – Luke 17:13 At the miraculous catch of fish – Luke 5:5-7 At the stilling of the storm -- Luke 8:24 At the transfiguration -- Luke 9:28-34
Jesus: The Master Teacher One from whom we seek instruction because of His superior knowledge or skill -- Matthew 19:16; 22:16, 24, 36 The One whom a disciple follows -- Matthew 8:19; 10:24-25
Jesus is truly “THE MASTER” If Jesus is your Master you will… Strive to please Him as His servant Obey Him as your Commander Learn from Him as a disciple. Jesus is THE MASTER, but is He YOUR MASTER?
