HOMELESS STATUS CODE

Homeless Status Code - Background With the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the definition of homeless children and youth under the McKinney-Vento Act was updated. In order to comply with ESSA, the phrase [children and youths] “awaiting foster care placement” was removed from the Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS).

Homeless Status Code - Changes for the 2017-2018 School Year Updated E1082 HOMELESS-STATUS-CODE description. Updated C189 HOMELESS-STATUS-CODE code table Deleted code 1 - Student lives in a shelter, transitional housing, or is awaiting foster care at any time during the current school year. Added code 5 - Student lives in a shelter or transitional housing at any time during the current school year.

SSI PROMOTION RETENTION CODE

SSI-PROMOTION-RETENTION-CODE Changes for 2017-2018 For the 2016-2017 school year, the SSI- PROMOTION-RETENTION-CODE was not reported. http://tea.texas.gov/About_TEA/News_and_Multimedia/Correspondence/TAA_Letters/Significant_Chang es_to_June_STAAR_Testing_for_Grades_5_and_8,_Student_Success_Initiative_(SSI)_Requirements_and_ Confidential_Student_Reporting_Timelines/ Business Validation 40110-0178 was added in 2016-2017 to accommodate the suspension of the SSI-PROMOTION-RETENTION-CODE. The rule prevented this field from being reported For 2017-2018, rule 40110-0178 has been deleted, which will allow SSI-PROMOTION-RETENTION- CODE to be reported again.
