OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT Monitor introduced in 2004 To gather data on the volume and value of visiting golfer rounds played on golf courses in Wales To better understand the Wales golf tourist. To establish base data for on-going measurement in the years ahead © SPORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC.

KEY FINDINGS The Economic Impact of golf tourism for Wales is: 2013 = £38,000,000 2014 = £37,900,000 2015 = £41,200,000 The number of golfing visitors to Wales is: 2013 = 196,000 2014 = 218,000 2015 = 227,000 Non wales spend – down 0.7m – all the increase is from Welsh spend which is £4m up. This is because of three things: - Overall increase in like for like welsh visitors as reported by clubs - Welsh are slightly more likely to stay overnight than in 2014 - Both day and overnight visitors are spending more (Overnight £65, Day £9) 2015 = Overnights - 81,000 & Day visitors - 148,000 © SPORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC.

2,159,000 (N.B - includes repeat visitors) Overall Summary The Economic Impact of golf tourism for Wales in 2015 including domestic Welsh visitors is: £41,200,000 The number of golf travellers visiting Wales has increased: 229,000 Over the past 12 years, since 2004, the TOTAL EXPENDITURE generated through golf tourism to Wales is: £392,200,000 The number of golfing visits to Wales during this time has been: 2,159,000 (N.B - includes repeat visitors)

Finally Golfers spend more per head than other visitors to Wales. Golf in Wales is a value for money proposition with great golf courses. The Monitor provided a strong argument for investment in golf in Wales. Keep the faith, keep Wales fantastic for golf. Maximise return on any future investment in golf by focusing on UK and Welsh domestic visitors – highlighting Wales’ key USPs as a golf destination – value for money, friendliness and enjoyment, whilst also not being shy to boast about the quality of the courses.
