Kubla Khan Zac and Jared

Samuel Taylor Coleridge Literary critic, philosopher, and with the help of his friend, William Wordsworth, founded the Romantic Movement in England.

Synopsis and Theme A man named Kubla Khan traveled to the land of Xanadu, it is extremely beautiful and it has a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense. Like a ice dome in a sunny place. Winding rivers that go into a deep, pitch black ocean. It is surrounded by vegetation. He just talks about how beautiful it is, in the last stanza he talks about how it was just a dream (Opioid Dream). He wants to recreate it in real life because it was so beautiful. Theme: Interaction between man and nature.

Packet Questions A war will happened in the future and Kubla Khan is going to get caught in the middle of it, and the war will destroy everything. There is somewhat of a rhyming pattern that makes it flow. Imagination- anything is possible Kubla Khan is incomplete because it is an interrupted vision/dream, and the speaker forgot the rest of his dream, therefore it will never be remember, nor complete.

Alliteration Line 25 “miles meandering with a mazy motion” Line 13 “cedarn cover” Line 26 “river ran” Line 5 “sunless sea”
