Introducing the Hurricone The only 360 degree floor dryer

A slippery floor is a potential disaster for unaware pedestrians.

Slip and Fall Statistics

Oooooopppppssssss Second only to motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents account for 15% of all accidental deaths in the United States. It's not hard to see that slip and fall accidents can be extremely serious, whether you're at work, home, or anywhere else.

Falls at Work Services, wholesale, and retail trade industries account for 60% of slip and fall accidents Falls to a lower level accounted for 31% of contractor deaths in 2013 At 25%, slip and fall injuries are the most frequently reported work accidents 5% of falls result in fractured bones – the most common injury Falls are the primary cause of lost time at work 22% of falls result in more than 31 days of missed work

Slip and Fall Injuries Falls are the most common cause of traumatic brain injuries Falls are the leading cause of non-fatal medically treated injuries in the U.S. Each year, over 8 million emergency room visits are due to slips, trips, and falls

Who's Responsible for Your Slip and Fall Injury? Premises liability is the legal responsibility of owners to ensure their property is safe and free from hazardous conditions. This includes removing tripping hazardous, cleaning up slippery floors, lighting outdoor areas appropriately, and much more.

The Key Factors for Premises Liability For a property owner to be held liable for an injury suffered through a slip and fall on their land, one or all of the following must be true:

The property owner caused the dangerous condition (such as a spill, or other slippery, hazardous surface). The property owner had known about the dangerous condition and ignored it (e.g., a snow-covered walkway that wasn't cleared in a reasonable timeframe). The property owner was notified of the hazardous conditions, but didn't correct it (e.g., notifying a landlord of a broken step, they don't fix it, and it injures a tenant or guest).

Compensation Because property owners are responsible for the safety of their guests, customers, and tenants, you may be able to recover compensation for the following: Medical Bills Missed Paychecks Pain and Suffering Scars And more

Dollars and Cents cont. The average cost from slip and falls is $22,800 per accident,” “The average workers compensation claim is $19,000.” These numbers often account for medical costs alone, a hefty fine for an accident that could have been prevented. If an employee has an accident, managers must also factor in potential replacement workers, the salary of the unemployed staff member, restricted duty for that person, etc. If a building occupant or visitor has an accident, there is no limit to what fees (medical, legal, etc.) companies will be responsible for. Those costs add up quickly.

Dollars and Cents According to the Workplace Safety Index 2014 for the year 2012, the annual direct cost of disabling occupational injuries due to slips, trips and falls is estimated to exceed $11 billion. The Index reports that falls on the same level are the second most costly occupational injury (estimated annual cost of $6.7 billion), just behind overexertion. It also shows that bodily reaction, which comprises injuries from slipping or tripping, is the third highest injury category, followed by falls to a lower level (4.6 billion).

SLIP FALL STATISTICS Over 540,000 Slip-Fall injuries, requiring hospital care, occur in North America each year. Slip-Falls account for over 300,000 disabling injuries per year in North America. One in three serious bone breaks for seniors result in death, within one year of the accident. Slip-Falls account for over 20,000 fatalities per year in North America  i.e. 55 persons per day. It is the second leading cause of accidental death and disability after automobile accidents. Slips and falls are the number one cause of accidents in the home and workplace 30% of all reported injuries. Slip-Falls kill more workers than all other combined forms of workplace accidents.

SLIP FALL STATISTICS cont. Slip-Falls are the number one cause of accidents in Hotels, Restaurants and Public Buildings; 70% occur in flat and level surfaces. Slip-Falls are the leading cause of death in the workplace and the source of more than 57% of all disabling injuries. Slip-Fall accidents account for 30% of all reported injuries. There are social burdens related to this problem, including Worker’s Compensation claims over $1.8 Billion year – i.e. 40% of all accidents claims paid out. Worker’s Compensation and Liability Insurance Rates are increasing on the average of 30% per year. The focus should be on prevention, not compensation. The total expense resulting from slip-fall injuries alone is a $100 million per day problem. Insurance rates are increasing on average of 30% per year. Slip falls account for forty per cent of general-liability claims relate to slip and fall.

Prevention There are many prevention methods we can take to prevent injuries from slip and falls. Granted, there is never a guarantee that a slip and will never happen, but with the Hurricone, you are taking the step in the right direction to prevent slip and falls from happening. The Hurricone will dry floors up to 90% quicker than having an employee try to dry it with a “Clapper Warning Sign.”

In Conclusion The numbers are there and they don’t lie. To give them the safest place to shop, dine or work. The Hurricone is the first step towards a slip and fall free environment.
