Writing Choose a writing prompt from the October writing calendar Spend time editing/ revising once you have finished your piece Math: 2 Digit Addition and Subtraction We will learn how to add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value. Math Play the Funny Numbers game on our class webpage Practice addition and subtraction math facts to 20 using the links on our class blog Writing: Informational Writing In our informational unit, we will learn how to write a topic sentence, use facts to develop points, and a closing sentence on a topic of our choice (that we know all about). Spelling Choose an activity from the October Speller’s Choice activity sheet S.O.S. for the weekly words – they, won’t, our Social Studies: Creek and Cherokees We will identify and describe the contributions of the Creeks and Cherokees and how they used the land and rivers to survive. Reading Read an informational book for 20 minutes Use Mackinvia and Pebble Go to research a topic you’d like to learn more about S.S./ Science Talk with your parents about what you learned on the Creek In-House Field Trip and compare their way of life to our lives today.
