What is Title I? Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Title I Funds Federal Funds: Schools are allocated Title I funds on the basis of the percentage of the students eligible for free/reduced lunch Schools receive Title I funds if 40% of the enrolled students are eligible for free or reduced lunch

Federal Funds: Title I-A Improving Basic Programs Provide details for the uses of Title I funds Title II-A Supporting Effective Instruction Describe Professional Development programs as well as plans in preparing, training, and recruiting High Quality Teachers and Administrators

Federal Funds: Title III Language Instruction for English Learners Provide details for the ELL services and instruction Title IV-A Student Support and Academic Enrichment -Improving access to foreign language, arts, and music education -Promoting parent involvement in school, promoting school based mental health services -Building technological capacity and infrastructure, delivering rigorous academic courses and curricula using technology

Federal Funds: IDEA-B Special Education Provide details of Special Education services received from the vendors as well as certified staff. IDEA Early Childhood Special Education Provide details of services received from the vendors as well as certified staff for Early Childhood Special Ed needs.

Title I Schoolwide (SW) Pooling: SW program allows to consolidate and use federal, state and local funds to upgrade the entire educational program of a school Eligibility: School enrollment with at least 40% low income students Pooling Purpose & Benefits: Consolidation of various grant funds to serve unique needs within school building. Ability to focus on and budget against collective needs rather than planning against individual program/grant Focusing on the needs rather than the individual grant amounts and rigid requirements.

Parent Involvement The School provides parents with an opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school. The school develops, monitors and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement to implement programs and services that support students

Parent Rights Ask for meetings and trainings Review the result of annual parent involvement effectiveness survey Review the school’s achievement data Review and modify the site Title I plan

Curriculum & School Achievement Data Schools use data to align curriculum to state and district academic standards Schools adjust instructional practices based on the findings of the assessment data

Our School Performance Data Provide parents with the most current data and explain how the data were used to develop the goals and strategies in the Student Achievement Plan

Single Plan for Student Achievement Parents are informed about the school’s curriculum in English/Language Arts and Math, as well as other core subjects Parents also receive information about the assessments used to measure student progress in these academic areas.

Single Plan for Student Achievement Discuss the goals and planned strategies of the school site plan Title I parents have the right to be involved in the development of this plan

Opportunities to Volunteer Discuss opportunities for volunteering such as activities in the school, or on fieldtrips School parent and family engagement councils/committees Decision-making and planning on how to use Title I, Part A school parent and family engagement funds

Q&A Provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the planning and use of the Title funds as well as IDEA Part B funds.
