Graphing and Writing Equations in Standard Form Algebra 1 CC Graphing and Writing Equations in Standard Form

Standard Form To graph a linear equation in standard form, plot the x- and y-intercepts and then connect them with a line.

Example 1 Graph 6x – 4y = 36 and label the x- and y-intercepts.

Example 2 Graph 5x – 2y = 13 and label the x- and y-intercepts.

Example 3 Write two equations in standard form that are equivalent to the given equation. 8x – 14y = 2

Example 4 Write an equation in standard form of the line that passes through the given point and has the given slope m. (5, -1), m = 2

Example 5 Write an equation in standard form of the line that passes through the given point and has the given slope m. (-15, -4), m =

Example 6 Write an equation in standard form that passes through the given points. (-1, 2), (5, 4)

Example 7 Write equations of the horizontal and vertical lines that pass through the point (-2, 6).
