Part 1: Overview of Motivis Logging in Navigation Menu Curriculum Library Course Page Part 1: Overview of Motivis

Go to Nicolet College Website: http://www.nicoletcollege.edu/ Click on MyNicolet on top of the homepage and sign in Hover on Menu at the top left and click MOTIVIS First time user needs to enter Nicolet email username and password and click Sign in button Recommended web browsers: Chrome and Firefox (Always update to newest version) Recommended device: Computer Logging in Try it!

Navigation Menu General Section Stream includes your feed, upcoming events, current news, and tweets Navigation Menu

Messages: Direct messages between you and another person/ group of people. These messages are private and not viewable by anyone else.  Navigation Menu The number to the right of Messages Icon represents the number of new messages you have. You will also receive an email when you receive a new message. Opt out Email: Profile->Account Settings->Notifications Try it!

Curriculum Library Academic Section Competency Library: Viewing Competency Library (updates via Instructional Designer) Assignment Library: Building Out the Assignment Library. Assignments must be added to the Assignment Library so that you can later add them to specific courses. Resource Library: Resources can be added to the Resource Library so that you can add them to a specific assignment later or they can be added directly from an assignment. Curriculum Library

Course Page Home: View and interact with students via the feed, and announcement. Roster: View a roster of students enrolled in the course. Assignments: View and link assignments to the course, and assign those assignments to students. Progress Report: View a progress report for students enrolled in the course. Gradebook: Manage all students’ grades for each assignment (Traditional Course Only) Competencies: View and assign competencies and performance indicators to the course. Best Practice Orientation Model Example 1: Use Text box to deliver Module Introduction and Instructor Information. 2. Use Resource to attach Motivis Student Orientation Guide and URL of course syllabus. 3. Use Assignment to attach a Ice breaker discussion as Q&A/ Muddiest Point for students.

STEP 1: Save Course Files A. Download Files and Folders in BLACKBOARD You can select files and folders in Course Files and download them to your computer in a zipped package. This will be helpful for reusing the selected files and folders in other course builds. STEP 1: Save Course Files Access the Blackboard course. Click on Files under the Control Panel. Click on the course ID. Note the upper right area to identify how many pages of course files exist. Scroll down and select Show All. Select the check boxes next to the files and folders to include in the zipped package. Note: If you want all of the files, click in the box to the left of File Type. Select Download Package > Save. To access the files, go to Computer > Downloads. The file name for the zipped package saved to your computer is the course ID with the .zip extension.

STEP 2: Add competency to course Choose your course from Courses in the left menu Click on the Competencies tab on the top right (See counter 1) Click on the Add/Remove to select competencies. (See counter 2)

Search your course by course number or course name (see counter 1) Click Add to select Competencies (See counter 2) Click Update & Close to select competencies. (See counter 3)

STEP 3: Build a Module Try it! More instructions on Creating course module STEP 3: Build a Module Collapse Try it! Choose your course from Courses in the left menu Click on Assignments (See counter 1 above) Click on Add (See counter 2 above) Click on Add Module (See counter 3 above)

STEP 4: Build an Assignment More instructions on Building an Assignment STEP 4: Build an Assignment Click on Assignments in a course page (See counter 1) Click on Add in a module (See counter 2) Choose a type of assignment: submission, quiz or discussion. (See counter 3) Instructor can add Estimated Completion Time for each assignment.

STEP 4: Build an Assignment More instructions on Building an Assignment Practice STEP 4: Build an Assignment Add an existing assignment “00000000 Ice Breaker Activity” to your Orientation module. Create a Discussion Assignments in your orientation module. Create a Submission Assignments in your orientation module. Create a Quiz Assignments in your orientation module. Try it!

STEP 5: Assign Module to Students More instructions on Assign work to students STEP 5: Assign Module to Students Click on Assignments in a course page (See counter 1) Set up the due date for each assignment. Click on Counter 2 and select student by checking the box (counter 3) Click on Assign (See counter 4 )

STEP 6: Evaluation Click Evaluations on the left menu (See counter 1) Search key words of student name or assignment name, filter certain course (See counter 2 & 3) Click on Student Name and it will bring you to evaluation page. (See counter 4)

STEP 6: Evaluation Try it! Click Student Assignment to view/download their work. (See counter 1) Input score (See counter 2) Provide detailed feedback/ attach file (See counter 3) Click Submit Evaluation to send your feedback. (See counter 4) More instructions on Evaluations

STEP 7: Gradebook Try it! Gradebook General instruction. (counter 1) Weighting Assignment instruction. (counter 2) Click to Override Grade of each Assignment. (counter 3) Export Gradebook as CSV file to backup. (counter 4)

Tips of Resource Library Follow the naming convention: Course Number + Resource Name e.g: 1050470200 Course Outcome Summary Resource cannot be deleted in the library. You can only edit the resource that you created. Rename your files at your own computer folder before uploading. Identified bug: An override resource file wouldn’t replace the old file. Tips of Assignment and Module Be sure to assign module to students at the first day of class. An assignment can be edited only in Draft mode. Only module with assignment and due dates assigned can be assigned to students. Once student submitted assignment, that module is locked. Assignment Grading: Formative (not counted in final grade), Summative (counted in final grade) Attach Resource to Assignment as much as possible, as assignment can be duplicated.
