Getting Started with PD 360 Overview of the Tool Bar Overview of the Deck Overview of the App Menu

Watching the video segments… The students may not look like yours. The teachers or administrators will not look like you. All of the innovations viewed have been proven to improve achievement in a variety of classrooms in diverse locations, urban, suburban, rural. Focus on the Concepts!

Providing solutions to increase learning in today’s schools How it all Started The School Improvement Network Providing solutions to increase learning in today’s schools The story of its founder: A teacher who was isolated and saw a vision of opening the best classrooms in America for all to see. Give a brief history of the company: The original idea for the company came from it’s founder, John Linton. As a first year teacher, he felt the isolation of being alone with 9th grade science students and no mentoring or coaching. Feeling as if he were violating some ethic, he roamed the halls of the school during his free period eaves dropping on other teachers. With a background in film production, he envisioned opening the classrooms of great teachers through the medium of video for others to learn from. With his wife Blanch, a veteran elementary teacher, they began producing The Video Journal of Education. Mission: Providing solutions to increase learning in today’s schools.

Research has proven PD 360 works! Video Content Now—Over 1500 Teacher-friendly video segments Average length: 10 to 12 minutes Classroom/instruction –focused programs: Elementary Editions Secondary Editions Limited Programs: Elementary, Middle School, High School Legacy programs—Older, still current concepts Job-embedded professional development Social Networking Features, Community, Groups, Colleagues Courses featuring Michael Fullan, Marcia Tate, Charlotte Danielson Research has proven PD 360 works!

Take Risks * Grow * If you want to feel secure, do what you already know how to do. If you want to be a true professional and continue to grow… *go to the cutting edge of your competence which means a temporary loss of security. So whenever you don’t quite know what you’re doing, *know you’re growing. Madeline Hunter

Remember Always End with a Challenge Review assignments, share classroom experiences and look at student work since the previous meeting. Study data and student needs. Set the stage for viewing the video by discussing the concepts related to the topic. Always end with a “Next Steps” challenge to implement a new practice. Determine the details of the next meeting and the video segment to be viewed. Post a thread in the Community.   Discuss and  process innovations seen in the video to internalize new practices for classroom implementation. Electronic discussions through the Community or in Groups can expand participation and solve issues of time. Make note in the Journal of new learning discovered in the video that has classroom application to meet student needs and benefits you as a professional.
