The orange line signifies stable steady states and the dash line unstable steady states. (B) Cdk2:CyclinE1, and not Cdk2:CyclinA, is responsible for the timing of the G1-S transition. (C) In the absence of Cdk2:CyclinE1, Cdk2:CyclinA can take over the job of keeping timing of the G1-S transition. (D) Levels of Emi1 protein can control the irreversibility of the G1-S transition.
