Presentation transcript:

Child abuse “ … children who have been neglected, physically, sexually and/or emotionally abused not only suffer a wide range of their victimization, but are at greater risk to be abused again. There are both short and long term consequences due to abuse. Each child's  experience of abuse consequences are different even if the abuse situation seems similar” (www.be-free.inf). Now that we’ve covered short and long-term effects of rape, we’re going to look now at the short and long term effects of child abuse. Keep in mind that the younger the child is when the abuse happens, the more damaging it tends to be in both short and long-term effect. As I show you the slides ask yourself: How much does society, as a whole, contribute to the abuse by denying its existence or not believing the child when the abuse is reported.
