Public Access Phase III - Overview Scope and Charter Develop White Papers (Deployment Guidelines) to address latest standards affecting Wi-Fi public access and roaming (e.g., WPA) Create a Market Requirements Document (MRD), for public access certification, to be turned into a WFA test plan Share and obtain feedback on White Papers and MRD with other groups through liaisons
Problems / Issues to be addressed Unique requirements for Public Access & technologies/standards available to improve security, roaming and ease of use for public access Deployment Guideline for WPA in Public Access For Authentication and address security issues (such as Mutual Authentication) Co-existence (migration path) with UAM Case Studies with Service Providers Why WPA is important: Fraud Prevention, Accurate Billing MRD for Public Access Certification Standardized common set of AAA attributes Compatibility with roaming and settlement standards (GSMA, 3GPP2, IPDR) Support / Compatibility with Applications (e.g., VPN)
