What is imperialism?

Dictionary.com Imperialism: the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, by acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies.

My definition Imperialism: Powerful countries expanding into weaker counties. Controlling other countries resources and territory against their will, also includes forcing their culture on the weaker nation. Examples: US military bases overseas, Hitler during WWII, Britain’s occupation in India, and early exploration.
