Get yourself a gratitude attitude. Today’s topic… Get yourself a gratitude attitude. Have you ever gotten up in the morning to discover you had no clean clothes? Ever spend time with a friend who had plenty of spending money yet you were completely broke? Most of us have a moment like this. The question is: how did you respond? Did you get mad, did you feel sorry for yourself, did you get jealous?

When things are going wrong, take a closer look within When things are going wrong, take a closer look within. We can’t change our circumstances but we can change the way we think about it. If you work on the way you think, your not so good moments can become just a moment, not a lifestyle. You can teach yourself to turn your thinking toward what is good and right in the moment. Training yourself to be grateful is a life skill that will help you get thru life in a positive direction.

A Grateful attitude People with a grateful attitude are more optimistic, energetic and determined. They feel less stressful and depressed, And they have more kindness and love in their lives.

Imagine that you fall down in the cafeteria during lunch Ok, so you might be embarrassed and kids will laugh at you. But what in that moment is there to be grateful about? Think about it. Maybe you avoided tearing the seat out of your pants. Maybe you didn’t reinjure the ankle that gives you trouble. At least you had lunch. At least you had time to be with your friends. Maybe only a few people actually saw you fall. Maybe someone actually helped you get up off the floor. It is all about how you choose to think about it.

Debate these questions… Why are people with a grateful attitude more optimistic? Energetic? Determined? Why do we humans tend to focus on what we do not have instead of what we do have?

Eric Hoffer was a longshoreman turned philosopher. Read his quote and paraphrase his words. “The hardest arithmetic for us to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.” Do you agree or disagree?
