Lesson 2- Navigating the Global Workforce Objectives: Learn more about the challenges of working globally Understand different cultures have different business practices

Language Barriers There are many different languages used all around the world. When people speak different languages, miscommunication can easily happen. Miscommunication can cause loss of trust, damaged relationships, and loss of business.

Considering Time Zones When scheduling a meeting with attendees from all over the world, it is important to pay attention to time zones. The challenge is to find a meeting time that works best of everyone. Try to minimize the inconvenience to as many people as possible.

Social and Cultural Influences Cultural expectations about businesses vary. Being considerate and knowing the cultural expectations of a country can impress potential customers.

Business Card Etiquette Understanding business card etiquette helps show a person: You understand business etiquette in their country You respect the individual you are meeting You understand their credentials
