Participatory Research

Maps, Stories and Pictures. Resident led research using visual representations of places, people or concepts to shape discussion. Tangible focus on a place as it is seen by the people who live there. Ways of displaying stories, data and images, gathered by residents in place and time.

What other ways are there to be involved? Become a member of the local oversight group Helping to organise a public community event Write letters, or reports to local newspapers and media Giving talks at meetings of community groups in the local area to ensure residents’ voices are heard Putting up posters and distributing leaflets Acting as a secretary and taking notes in meetings

What can people get from participating? Training from Lancaster University The opportunity to meet new residents in your community Gain confidence in expressing your views in public spaces The opportunity to help your community to identify issues and find solutions that are important to you The opportunity to learn transferable skills to improve your CV
