What Have I been Up to Rab Tab Section Chapter Support: IBS&T Financial Projects Reporting Problems (L-50) (need your help) International Problems ($$ Fluctuations) Section and Chapter Rejuvenation (Reporting and Activity Problems) IBS&T Credit Cards & Insurance Programs Financial Planning (new) Local Projects Learning what is going on in the Board.

Electronic Communication Problems Director Elect View R2 = 3 Way Train Wreck Organizational Structure Problems Financial Problems Electronic Communication Problems AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Specifics Structural WRECK: Area Chair Organization Provides Critical Continuity at the beginning of every Year: Officer changes.. Tight Tight Schedule An important time for Out Reach LOOK AROUND ===== WE BLEW IT!! Financial WRECK---We are soooooo poor compared to other regions. Could not commit to a spring meeting until we figured out our financial state… late commitment limits hotel choices and schedule choices.. DOWN HILL FROM THERE…. Cannot Commit to helping sections fund extra volunteers to meetings. (PACE / Sections Congress / Student Projects/ Professional Projects for you to serve your members) We may have 10K at the end of the year after Sections Congress.. Not enough for a meeting next year until after rebate is received… which already puts us behind in 2006…WE ARE ALREADY WRECKED

Specifics Continued Communication WRECK Our basic Web site has been a wreck Officers out of date.. Contacts not readily available.. Minutes not posted.. Last Real SAC update ~~ 2000 when Parvis updated NO ONE REALLY WATCHING (Jeff Friedhoffer is solving problems as we speak.. WE ALSO NEED YOUR HELP) Electronics Communication Rep Dropped off 2 years ago. Val King On Board/ Community Site AOL / IEEE Problems: Email Bounces / Bombs Secure Web Site Problems

Path Ahead: Communications: Financial.. Make the Electronic Communication Efforts that Thom has initiated WORK.. New initiative Make it work for us We are working the R2 Webb Page Issues.. Each of you need to Help too. Make sure the Links to your sites work and are up to date. COMUNICATIONS IS KEY. Financial.. R2 is the ONLY region world wide that does not have a $ 1.00 or $2.00 assessment per member for the Region.. This has been a Badge of Courage as our reserves have dwindled to a critically low level. Rab will not fund us Either we become a minimalist organization… find funding out side of IEEE …. Or bite the bullet and ask to raise dues $1 to $2 (less than 1% for most of us)

Path ahead Continued Get the Area Chair Organization working for us.. “Tried before but it did not work” That was when most of the sections followed an ACADEMIC CYCLE with officers changing over the summer.. The schedule of meetings and obligations today (nominations for director, SAC competitions, Pace Work Shops) etc demand a different approach.

LETS START!! Clean Our Own Communication Houses Bite the Financial Bullet Reach out to the “Lost Sections” GET READY FOR SECTIONS CONGRESS Not quite a smile….. Not yet any way
