Heroes Warm-up: May 17 On your character sheet at the top of the page, write your definition of a hero in one sentence.

Protagonists & Antagonists Protagonist- central character, usually initiates main action of story and overcomes a flaw (weakness, ignorance, etc.) to achieve a new understanding by the end Hero- acts with great honor/courage. Dignified, brave, idealistic, purposeful. Anti-hero- protagonist who lacks honor/courage. May be cowardly, self-interested, or weak. Antagonist- opposes protagonist (foil), barring or complicating his/her success
