Acuity Training I Teacher Introduction Welcome to Acuity! Acuity Training I Teacher Introduction Idea: Only go through these slides and the student experience (separate ppt) prior to the assessment and wait until after the assessments are given to use the ppt about reporting. Will make two or three smaller trainings out of the material and will move the reports training until teachers will have their own report data to look at thus making the reports training more meaningful. Training Agenda Teacher Login Viewing Class Rosters Student Test Experience Scoring Constructed Response (CR) Items Viewing Reports

Teacher Login URL acuity.aps.k12.co.us Enter Username & Password same as used to login to your computer Click Here if you forgot your password Fyi… the window for the first predictive starts Aug. 13 ends Aug. 31. The first predictive assessment, Form A, will have 2/3 of items from previous grade level and 1/3 of items from current year. Second predictive, form B, will be 1/3 from previous grade level and 2/3 from current grade level. Third predictive, form C, will have all current grade level items. Predictives will test items from entire year, not just the quarter (like last year’s interims). Also, some items will appear on predictive A, B, and C because the tests must be linked to show the growth and so, if teachers use those items to teach in their classrooms it will skew the results if students have simply memorized an answer and not learned the underlying skill intended.

Login Page is the same for students & teachers Log into Acuity If a teacher is unable to login, please send their name to Carisa Hull in an email and include the school name and the grade/subject they teach. Username and password is the same as what you use to login to your computer each day. Do not change your password in Acuity, it is tied to the district computer login so it will not work if you try to change it in Acuity. Login Page is the same for students & teachers acuity.aps.k12.co.us

Main Menu

View Class Rosters Main Menu Management Classes Select School (if applicable) Click Show Existing Classes Select Class & Click View Roster Click Show All Passwords Click Print Roster BEST PRACTICE: Prior to your Testing Dates – Confirm your Class Roster(s) are correct. – New students will show in Acuity the day after they are enrolled in IC if they do not then contact Susan Collins in IT via email -Provide, your name, school, student’s complete first and last name, grade level, and subject/course Schools should consider accommodations when making testing schedules (all accommodations are still available, please see Benchmark Assessment Procedures Manual, Q and A, and Tips sheet located at: http://assessment.aurorak12.org/acuity/ ) Important to view and confirm class rosters prior to testing. Also, important to print and have all student usernames and passwords on hand for teachers to use on testing day in case a student is having trouble logging in.

Answer Key Tests > Preview/Print > Enter Search Criteria > Search > Print/View Answer Key There a couple of different ways the rubrics can be accessed. The first way is through the preview/print screen seen here. Choose the subject, choose the test type (predictive for reading and math and custom for writing), then choose the column that says preview/print answer key. The second way is shown on slide 18 of this ppt. It is through the scan and score processing, choose manually score items, enter the information, choose score CR’s, on the next screen click search, and then there will be a list of students. Above that list of students there is a link that says view rubrics, choose that. Screen shot below of that screen.

Constructed Response Each Predictive Form has 2 CR Items Students may complete CR via paper/pencil (CR Answer Sheet) or online Teachers must score CRs using Rubric Teachers need to manually enter CR scores into Acuity CR Items should NOT be completed if student did NOT complete MC Items CR items should be printed out by teachers or by other school personnel prior to students scheduled testing time. To save paper, do not need to print the first two pages or the last page when printing CR’s directly from Acuity.

Manually Score Items After Teacher has graded the Students’ CR Items, Enter the scores into Acuity Tests > Scoring and Scan Processing > Manually Score Items > Enter Criteria (Step 1) > Show Assignments

Manually Score Items Click Score CR or Observations Items Select Student(s) Click Search Enter Student’s Score by Item Number No Response, 0, 1, 2, 3, etc… Click Submit to save ****Clicking Submit is crucial as no scores will be saved until that button is clicked.

Constructed Response No Response = 0 ZERO Score = 0 Leave Blank Student skipped (did not attempt) item, but completed other items (do not use for absent students) counts as an Incorrect score (zero points) ZERO Score = 0 Student attempted to answer item, but answer was incorrect, zero points based on rubric Leave Blank If student did not complete any multiple choice items (absent)

Manually Score Items Joe Smith Robert Dylan Here is the second way to find the Scoring Rubrics, it is through the scan and score processing, choose manually score items, enter the information, choose score CR’s, on the next screen click search, and then there will be a list of students. Above that list of students there is a link that says view rubrics, choose that. ****Clicking Submit is crucial as no scores will be saved until that button is clicked. Brenda Jones

Assignment Status Click Assignment Status on left Fill in all information on the assessment (subject, grade, etc.) Then you will see a list of each student showing if their test is “in progress” or not. All “in progress” tests mean that the student clicked “Save and Exit” instead of “Finish” Teachers need to view this (SAC’s can also view/remind/help teachers with this) prior to the close date of the window. This is important because any student showing as “in progress” will affect your ability to see student, class, grade level, school reports correctly.
