Healthy Learning, Healthy Lives Award Key Stage 0 (Early years) Quick reference guide For more information and a breakdown of these criteria, go to www.healthylearningdoncaster.co.uk Physical Activity Criteria 1 Physical activity is embedded in setting policy. Criteria 2 The setting encourages opportunities for active play. Criteria 3 Staff have a good understanding and knowledge of the importance of physical activity and current recommendations and guidelines. Criteria 4 Parents are encouraged to engage with active travel . Criteria 5 Families are encouraged to be active outside the setting. Enhanced Criteria (Optional): You can apply for an Enhanced Award once you have gained your Healthy Learning, Healthy Lives Award. Healthy Eating Healthy eating and oral health is embedded in setting policy. Staff have a good understanding and knowledge of current food, drink, nutritional and oral health recommendations and messages. Children are given opportunities to try a wide variety of healthy foods, including fruit and vegetables, through healthy food based activities and play. The setting promotes a positive healthy eating environment and healthy mealtime routines. The setting is committed to ensuring all children are given the best start in life through safe and responsive infant feeding methods and relationship building practices. Lifestyle influences The setting has a dedicated health promotion display and supports appropriate national and local campaigns. The setting supports the health and wellbeing of staff members and employees are role models for families and children. The setting has positive partnerships with parent/carers and actively transfers positive health behaviours to the home environment. The setting has a good understanding of the importance of emotional health and wellbeing of the child. The setting is aware of the importance of sun safety and has appropriate measures in place to avoid harm.
